HGV Driver Training
-
Are you a HGV Class 2 driver looking to upgrade to HGV Class 1? Or maybe you are a car driver looking to start your career in lorry driving and want to Fast Track to the largest commercial vehicle category on the road (Category C+E)
HGV Class 1 'Articulated'
Driving articulated vehicles demands a high level of skill, particularly concerning forward planning and defensive driving techniques, as well as reversing with a large trailer.
For Category C (HGV Class 2) licence holders the Category C+E training course is similar to what you would have taken to gain that licence, with the additional requirement to demonstrate the ability to couple and uncouple your vehicle with a trailer.
For Category B (car licence holders) the ‘Fast Track Category C+E’ course is slightly longer in duration. After obtaining provisional and passing the relevant theory tests you will start your training course in a Category C vehicle, familiarising yourself with the size of the vehicle before progressing onto the Category C+E and taking your Module 3a (off road) and Module 3a (on road driving ability) tests at the end of the course.
Passing the Category C+E tests will entitle you to drive any commercial vehicle (except PCV) including those towing a trailer.
At RSM we provide all classes of PCV driver training courses through our centres throughout the country. Our intensive driver training courses are provided on a ONE-to-ONE basis. Our experienced PCV driver training instructors will teach you to drive the vehicle both confidently and safely to a high standard beyond what is typically required by the PCV driving test.
